This 100 acre island boasts white sand beaches and a shimmering lagoon. The Royal Sunset Island Resort borders a fishing village where guests are welcome to experience the traditional culture and way of life of the friendly villagers.
The Royal Sunset Island Resort provides the best in local entertainment, great friendly service, superb cuisine, and a relaxed and appealing bar.
You will find all the marine activities associated with off-shore islands available at the Royal Sunset Island Resort including safe swimming, sailing, sport fishing, paddle skis, scuba diving, wind-surfing, snorkeling, volleyball, buffets and floor show evenings, swimming pool, island style tennis court.
Royal Sunset Island Resort has 26 comfortable 2 room Fales and 2 studio mini suites, all beach front.
The fales are surrounded by coconut trees to keep them as private as possible.
Each fale has a separate bathroom with hot water shower, toilet and vanity, the main room contains tea and coffee making facilities, a fan, and a refrigerator.
Two divan beds and 2 chairs make up the lounge room, and the separate bedroom has one queen size bed.
The Royal Sunset Island Resort also has a world class 51 foot ocean-going Beneteau yacht. The "Impetuous" has three double cabins with separate accommodations for the skipper and crew/cook and full scuba diving equipment on board.
Available for charter for a day, or for extended trips to Ha'apai and Vava'u, it offers wonderful opportunities to explore this Polynesian playground.
Royal Sunset Island Resort caters to experienced, serious anglers, and those who would like to learn about the fabulous fishing in the local waters.
You can try your luck catching Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Yellowfin Tuna, Marlin, Sailfish, Skipjack Tuna.
The skipper and crew are credentialed by the IGFA.
Humpback wale watching is very popular in the nearby areas.
For decades the people of Atata have been renowned for their fishing prowess.
Reef fish, shell fish and seafood keep their families in food, and enable the village to sell at the markets in Nuku'alofa.
These same people are the staff at Royal Sunset, and their catch—fresh fish and seafood—is the basis of our restaurant requirements.
