We decided to arrive into Moorea via the high-speed ferry that departs the dock at Papeete. The very short ferry ride provided us with amazing views as we departed Tahiti, and stunning views as we arrived into Moorea.

It is easy to see why people think that this beautiful island was the inspiration for James Michener's mythical Bali Hai.

The dramatic blue colors of the water gently meld into the stunning greens of the island. We practically went through one roll of film just on the ferry ride!

 

MOOREA ACTIVITIES

While Moorea is a popular destination for honeymooners seeking sun, sand, and relaxation, it also offers a wonderful variety of activities and a large selection of resorts.

We knew in advance that a visit to the world famous Tiki Village was a must, and we witnessed traditional wood carving, weaving, black pearl farming, singing, and dancing.

After enjoying an exciting and informative circle island tour, we decided to go for an exhilarating horse back riding tour along the white sand beach.

We sauntered along the beaches of Cook's Bay and Opunohu Bay and stood in awe of the mountain peaks that rose above us like a shark's jaw.

One of the best activities you can do in Moorea is to spend some time with the locals.

Immerse yourself in the local culture. Visit the markets, strike up conversations with the natives, eat dinner with the locals - become a temporary Polynesian!
