Before the Wedding Day

Matangi's intimate setting and homely atmosphere makes it the perfect location for a memorable Fiji wedding.  Every wedding at Matangi is a hassle free occasion - all you need to do is obtain your marriage license, choose when and where you would like your wedding and who you would like as witnesses and the resort will do the rest. 

Wedding Formalities - Marriage License Registration

It is a requirement that a marriage license be obtained from the local District Officer on the island of Taveuni prior to your wedding.  Birth certificates and passports must be produced.  Divorce papers are essential, if applicable.  Fiji marriage licenses are accepted worldwide.

All arrangements for your transport to the District Officer on Taveuni will be made by the resort and all transportation costs are included in our package price.  The District Office is located at the Waiyevo Government Station, a 15 minute car ride from Taveuni's Matei airport. If possible, registration will be coordinated with your arrival into Taveuni. (Registration cannot be done on weekends or public holidays).

Other Wedding Formalities - Place, Time and Witnesses

Guests can choose from the beach, the deck over the ocean, the lawn or the open bure on our beach front.  Most weddings take place during the afternoons but are available at anytime.  Staff members often serve as witnesses, if required.

Wedding Ceremony

Wedding ceremonies are performed by a minister of religion from either the Methodist or Catholic denominations or a marriage celebrant. The wedding ceremony is a very simple one. Add some personal touches to make it an even more memorable occasion.

Wedding Photography

Excellent wedding photography can be arranged with Yoshi, whose images you can see throughout our website.

All photography packages include round-trip Nadi/Taveuni/Nadi flights, round-trip Taveuni/Matangi/Taveuni car and boat transfers, all meals and photography services.

Fijian Warriers Escort Bride to the Beach Wedding

Pamper yourself with a Fijian massage, island wrap or sugar rub before your big event.  The following massage and spa services are available. Prices below are in FJD

- Matangi honeymoon - 150 minutes - $250.00 Start off your Matangi honeymoon with a relaxing 60 minute full body massage with exotic coconut oils followed by a 60 minute nourishing papaya or island wrap and a 30 minute mini facial using Pure Fiji products.

- The Big Day - 180 minutes - $340.00 Prepare for your big day with a total pamper pack including a 30 minute back, shoulders & neck massage using your choice of either exotic coconut oils or essential relaxing oils, followed by a 60 minute sugar rub, a 30 minute mini facial, a 30 minute basic manicure and a 30 minute basic pedicure. (For French add $5.00 for manicure and pedicure).

- Bride's assistant - $50.00 Your therapist would be happy to assist you on your big day with your hair, make-up and dress preparation. (Hair products, hair accessories and make-up not supplied).

Prices are in Fiji Dollars and exclude Fiji Government Taxes 17.5%.

We use Pure Fiji products made from coconut oil and island fragrances.

Fiji Wedding Menu

Our chef will discuss your special menu with you for a memorable private dinner.  For groups, a Fijian feast (lovo) is an option or a three course meal.  We would be happy to discuss a menu with you.  Following are some suggestions.

Fijian Lovo

Food is wrapped in banana leaves and cooked underground with hot stones in the traditional Fijian way.  Meats include chicken, lamb, pork and fish.  Vegetarian dishes include paulisami (spinach leaves) and egg plant marinated in coconut milk.  Potatoes, tapioca and taro are also baked in the underground oven.  Seafood dishes include Kokoda, raw fish marinated in lemon juice and fresh coconut milk, crabs, prawns and mussels prepared the Fijian way.  Desserts include coconut or pineapple pie or Fijian pudding. 

Three Course Meal - Suggestions For Groups

Smoked walu, shrimp cocktail or tomato and basil soup

Main Course

Roast chicken, fillet steak with green peppercorn sauce, baked snapper with fennel and lemon sauce, lamb rack with chilli orange glaze, garden salad, snow peas, carrots and broccoli.  Fresh seafood dishes can also be prepared, variety depending on availability.    

Dessert

Sherry trifle, Chocolate silk, crèmes brulees or pears poached in red wine.

Beverages

Our bar man will be standing by at the conclusion of your wedding ceremony to serve your champagne.  Tropical rum punch and canapés will follow in the dining room for all invited guests to enjoy.  For wedding groups, we would be happy to work with you on what beverages you would like to serve your guests. You may select from our Wine List.

Fiji Wedding Invitations

You may like to invite other guests to your wedding ceremony.  Our office staff would be happy to prepare and deliver a personalised wedding invitation.

Fiji Honeymoons

Matangi's intimate setting on its own private island makes it the perfect location to celebrate a honeymoon.   Our 11 beach-front bures are well spaced apart and nestled amongst lush tropical gardens.  Our Tree Houses /Honeymoon Suites are original to Matangi and were designed for honeymooners wanting something a little extra special with added privacy.  

One of the most popular spots for honeymoon couples is our secluded and private Horseshoe Bay with its enclosed beach setting. Take a picnic lunch, your snorkeling gear and kayaks and explore the best of Matangi above and underwater. 

A sunset cocktail on our deck over the ocean and a private dinner on the beach with the stars and gentle sound of lapping waves rounds off the day.  It all makes for the perfect romantic honeymoon in paradise.
